Painting faster

So, after all these years and I still haven't finished painting one army. Really terrible on my part. I tried to paint the miniatures to look better in pictures. Doing so made me get tired of painting fairly quick and take long breaks between painting sessions. Well, no longer. I am now painting to a lower standard but that's getting me to get ready to play faster.
For example, here is a 1500 points army ready for the tabletop:


I had the wave serpents, the wraith knight, hemlock wraith fighter, and the farseer painted. I painted the dire avengers in one go:



and the wraith lords and war walkers at the same time:



Now that I got that done, I'm starting with a chaos space marine army. This was the second army I got and was unpainted for the longest time. I have only gotten one game with it and most of the models were gray at the time. Next time I get them out to play they will be painted and looking good:






and I'm currently painting a vindicator, predator, and two rhinos:



I will paint all the bases at once so that they all have a unified theme. I'm happy I'm finally getting my armies painted and will stop playing with unpainted models. Wish I had done this before

Hemlock Wraithfighter and WraithKnight

So, after a weekend of painting I finished the Wraithknight's base and did all the painting on the Hemlock Wraithfighter. Also painted the second wave serpent. So much black paint, going to have to paint something else after I'm done with eldar / dark eldar, something more colourful. Here are the pictures:

I'm ready for this weekend's games. Since it's going to be to show a new guy how to play we decided on 600 pt games. This presented an opportunity for me to finally play with an army thats completely painted. So here it is, my 600pt eldar army for this weekend:

In preparation for this weekend's games, I painted a bit of Eldar. These things take a long time to paint since I always seems to miss one detail and have to keep searching for the squad member that had that grenade unpainted or a gun with an unpainted spot. well here they are:

I thought I had finished painting the grey knights to table top standard but seems I'm missing a strike and a terminator squad. Gonna have to power through them before I go back to painting dark eldar

Restarting the painting process. It's been a while since I painted anything. With two kids now I barely had any time but now my schedule has stabilised. I'm in the process of painting a shit ton of dark eldar. Been having a blast painting all the little details. I was deciding on which paint scheme to paint them and that was a lot of wasted time. Should have just painted them like the box pictures. That's what I'm doing now and what I will do with the future models I buy.

These two are something new I have been doing for the last couple of nights. One night a model. They are still WiP but I think only the base is missing. C&C are welcome.

Wave Serpent Wip

Both halves are glued now, no going back :P.

There is still a lot of details on the top hull that are missing but I think this week will be the week when I finally finish my first vehicle :o

So thinking about a new scheme for Ulthwé eldar so that it doesn't look as black, I came up with this idea. Paint a lot of white on the models so that there is contrast. Or something like that, didn't really thought about it too well. So I started painting the underside of one of the wave serpents and I think it will look Ok once it's assembled, hopefully it will be ready by the weekend.

Drop pod

It seems all I am able to finish are ultramarines, I don't know why but I get from start to finish in very little time. Hopefully I have not jinxed it and this drop pod stays unfinished like the rest of my armies.

On the painting, I did a white basecoat. I then preshadowed with basecoat black the outside (I should have basecoated the metal parts black.) Then did a very light coat of Necron Abyss. Trying to keep most of the color on the lines and recesses. Then applied an even coat of Mordian Blue. I noticed that the parts I wanted brighter weren't. So I added a bit of white to the mordian blue and airbrushed the middle parts. Looks better in person. I don't know how I am going to do the edge highlights :(

black highlights on clothing are very hard to do, I don't think I'm going to put more on these guys but I think they look ok.

these guys are ready to battle, only missing details here and there (a lot actually) and the bases. But these guys are ready to go! gonna keep working on them later. Gonna do the razorback and another thing and no more gk for a while.

idea for strongpoint

ok, so gonna try something with the strongpoint but i dont know if make it a whole thing or set each bastion in it's separate piece

ideas are welcome

pic is a bit blurry but the idea is there, the rightmost row of barriers is going to be lower and the terrain piece is going to stop where the lascannons are.

little update

just a little update. Not much going on in this front, but my schedule has been stabilizing lately so more time to paint :D

come december and I will do a lot more.

gk painting for tonight

I followed Jose's advice and added a bit of shadows to the gk. Gonna paint the gold tomorrow. Maybe they'll be "finished" soon.

GK small update

Did some work on the Strike Squad, hopefully the entire 750 points will be table top ready soon. I'll keep working on them afterwards but table top ready for most of my minis is my target now. Enough of plastic gray!!
